After landing, a private transfer took us along the winding coastal road to our hotel. Perched on a jungled hillside, our villa overlooks a quiet bay. We spent the day acclimatising, enjoying the view from our infinity pool and the incredible sense of peace that immediately surrounds you here.
We took a short drive to Victoria, one of the world’s smallest capital cities. We browsed the vibrant Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market, with its colourful displays of fresh fish, fruit, and spices, and saw the famous clock tower, a small replica of London’s Little Ben. It was a charming morning spent observing everyday Seychellois life.
A short flight took us to the island of Praslin. After checking into our hotel, we went to the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walking through this prehistoric forest felt like stepping back in time. We saw the legendary coco de mer palm, which produces the world’s largest seed, and listened to the calls of rare birds.
Today was dedicated to the beach. We visited Anse Lazio, often voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The sand is powder-soft, the water is crystal clear, and the whole beach is framed by those iconic granite boulders. We had lunch at a small restaurant tucked away in the trees, a perfect, simple beach day.
A quick ferry ride brought us to La Digue, an island where bicycles are the main form of transport. We hired bikes at the jetty and set off to explore. We cycled through vanilla plantations and past old colonial houses on our way to Anse Source d’Argent, the most photographed beach in Seychelles. Its rock formations are truly spectacular.
We took a boat trip to Curieuse Island, a protected reserve home to hundreds of Aldabra giant tortoises. They roam freely around the island, and being able to walk among these gentle giants was a unique experience. They are magnificent, ancient creatures and showed no fear at all.
For our final evening, we arranged a private sunset cruise from Praslin. Watching the sun dip into the Indian Ocean, turning the sky orange and pink, was a magical end to our trip. This luxury Seychelles holiday has been one of quiet wonder, a true escape to a world of profound natural beauty.
